Year 2 have started to learn about plants!  As part to their learning, Year 2 learn all about seeds and how they spread to help plant and tree reproduction.  To start their learning they used magnifying glasses to look closely at the various plants we have in the school grounds. We identified where seeds grow on plants and discussed how a dandelion has a head full of seeds. We then discussed different types of seeds and how they travel and spread.

After we had learnt about different seed types, we learnt how they spread by making helicopter seeds that spread by spinning in the wind, we created our very own representations of dandelions and role played birds who play a huge part in speed spreading by pooing the seeds far from the the tree they ate it from! It has been a wonderful day of learning, all year 2 have been incredible investigators and aspiring scientists!
