Welcome to our Pupil Parliament Page!
Empowering Year 1 through to Year 6 pupils in a democratic school forum, supported by adult leadership, to uphold British values and drive positive change.
At the heart of our school ethos are the British values of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different backgrounds—values supported and embedded daily through the work of our Pupil Parliament.
Annually, each year group democratically elects representatives to form part of our Pupil Parliament. These representatives debate, vote on school proposals, and work closely with staff in ways that reflect real-world democratic processes and promote active citizenship.
The Pupil Parliament is organised into four dedicated committees, each paired with a different member of school staff to ensure strong support and accountability:
Committee | Staff Lead | Focus Area |
---|---|---|
Eco Council | Miss Watson and Mrs Wilson | Leads our environmental work with a focus on sustainability. Pupils audit, plan, and campaign for sustainable change. |
School Development | Mr Thomas and Mr Edgar | Gathers pupil ideas to enhance learning spaces, behaviour systems, OPAL; partners with senior leadership to implement change. |
Charitable Committee | Mr Watts and Mrs Szalata | Coordinates whole‑school fundraising and giving projects, strengthening pupil voice and empathy through practical charitable action—drawing on pupil council traditions of organising school charity events to support our local and wider community |
Arts Committee | Mrs Barnes and Mr Moat |
Oversees school arts life and sits at the centre of our journey towards ArtsMark recognition. Pupils propose creative projects, exhibitions, performances, and build evidence towards ArtsMark accreditation |
