We’ve created The Rose Room as a calm, safe, private space, specifically for one‑to‑one and small-group SEMH work—that is, support for pupils’ social, emotional, and mental health. In this space, we welcome external professionals offering services including play therapy, life‑stories work, as well as emotions-focused sessions—each tailored to help our students feel seen, understood, and heard.
Additionally, teaching assistants will use the space to deliver targeted small-group support, including emotional literacy, foundational literacy, and essential life skills sessions. These sessions are informed by the growing responsibilities that TAs now take on in our school, especially in supporting pupils with special educational needs through both individual and group work.
Recognising the importance of early literacy, The Rose Room also doubles as a small-group phonics teaching space. This allows us to deliver targetted phonics teaching sessions in a setting that reduces distractions and enhances learning.
The Rose Room embodies the holistic, inclusive mindset we strive to cultivate. It’s where pupils receive vital emotional and therapeutic support, where teaching assistants play a stronger role in shaping emotional resilience and essential skills, and where foundational literacy is reinforced in a nurturing, intimate setting.
As we continue to grow as school, the new Rose Room shows how we truly meet the needs of every learner—supporting them academically, emotionally, and socially in one thoughtful space that further enhances our trauma informed approached and focus on pupil wellbeing.
