Today, the Reception class had a fantastic time celebrating Pancake Day! As part of their time sequencing learning in maths the children first created simple step-by-step instructions.
They then discovered that Pancake Day is a special day for Christians called Shrove Tuesday and is the day before Lent, a time when some people give up treats or do good deeds to prepare for Easter.
After learning about the meaning of the day, the children got busy making their own pancakes! They mixed the batter using flour, eggs, and milk, stirring everything together until it was smooth. Then, with the help of their teachers, the batter was poured into a pan and cooked until golden brown.
The most exciting part was choosing delicious toppings! Some children sprinkled sugar and lemon, while others enjoyed jam. Finally, it was time to eat! Everyone loved tasting their pancakes and talking about their favourite flavours.
