Both Year's 5 and 6 have had a great day today, taking part in the Anglo-Saxon workshop. Initially it started with a Q & A session to establish what the children already knew, which was quite a lot! They learnt all about the different Kingdoms within the Anglo-Saxon reign through drama, how King Alfred the Great brought some of the kingdoms together and the importance of the Battle of Hastings. We played lots of fun action games and created freeze frames that depicted the important events from this time period. The children were all amazed by the fact that our weekdays are named after the Anglo-Saxon Gods...what a great fact to learn! Throughout the whole day the children showed pride in our school, especially when working together to create the freeze frames- as you can see from the pictures.
