Today Year 3 and Year 5 went to the Cenotaph in Astley Park for Remembrance Day. As the children waited for the service to start, they looked at the names on the memorial wall to see if any of the soldiers that had lost their life had the same surname as themselves.

Several ex-servicemen approached the children to talk about their medals and where they were stationed. The children were very respectful and listened to what they had to say and some of the children asked questions. “What does the RAF stand for ?” asked Nancy.

Well done to all the children in Year 3 and Year 5 for showing respect and pride in our school. I also want to say a big thank you to the volunteers that helped walk the children to the park.
