This week, our Reception Class had a special visitor: a local paramedic! The children were thrilled to learn about the important role paramedics play in our community and how they help people in need.

During the visit, the paramedic shared fascinating stories from the field and explained the tools they use every day, like oxygen and first aid kits. The children got to see inside a real ambulance and learn about its features, sparking their curiosity about how emergency services operate.

To tie in with their learning about the human body, the paramedic talked about how to stay healthy and safe, and even demonstrated some basic first aid techniques. The kids were eager to participate, practicing how to bandage a pretend injury and discussing the importance of calling for help in an emergency.

This visit not only helped the children understand the vital services that support our community, but it also encouraged them to think about their own health and well-being. The excitement in the classroom was palpable as they engaged with the paramedic and asked questions about their job.

We’re grateful to our local paramedic for taking the time to inspire our young learners and for reinforcing the idea that many jobs help keep our community safe and healthy! We can’t wait to see what other exciting visits and lessons are in store for our Reception Class!
