Welcome the second group of Reception pupils for 2024-2025!
On the 9th September 2024 our second lot of Reception children came to join us and grew our class number to 19. They have settled in brilliantly especially as we have a few nursery friends joining us, however it was wonderful to also see so many new friends being made in our classroom.
We have really focused this week on thinking of our classroom as a family and building bonds that will take the children through their Gillibrand journey all the way to year 6. The children shared how they felt about joining the class and progressing up to primary school using talking partners and we adapted a buddy system with children from group 1 pairing up with children from group 2 to help them adapt to new routines.
Finally, we have started to implement positive affirmations in to our daily routine and helped the children to see all the fantastic qualities they possess and can bring to the classroom. Our second group has brought so much personality and laughter to the classroom that we can't wait to hone in on their confidence for future plays and showcases!
