In Year 1, we have marked 'Engineering Week' by completing an engineering challenge. Linking with our science and geography topics, we needed to find the windiest place in our school grounds. We decided to make kites. We looked at and evaluated different kites, tested materials and selected the best material for a kite. We then designed and made a kite that would meet our design criteria of being a) useful and b) appealing. Below are some photographs showing the children making their kites. Unfortunately, due to the weather, we have been unable to test them this week but the children are very much looking forward to flying their kites next week.
