In English, Year 3 have been writing and performing poetry. We based our poems on a poem called "At The School Assembly" by Simon Pitt. In the poem the noun is connected to the verb, and we have been working hard to replicate this poetry style.
The poems we have written are all about imaginary teacher’s classes leaving the hall at the end of assembly. After writing and editing the poems Year 3 performed their poems for the class, making sure that they used an appropriate volume when performing it.
Here is a section of Simon Pitt’s poem -
At the End of School Assembly
by Simon Pitt
Miss Sparrow’s lot flew out,
Mrs Steeds’s lot galloped out,
Mr Bull’s lot got herded out,
Mrs Bumble’s lot buzzed off.
These are some of the lines Year 3 have written –
Mr Monkey’s class swung off, - Mahalia
Mr Cobra’s lot hissed out – Lola
Miss Jelly’s class wobbled off – Scarlett
Mr Football’s lot were kicked out – Harvey
Mr Ruler’s class lined up – Ethan
Mr Kettles lot whistled out – Noah
Miss Mop’s class wiped out - Lola
And…Mr Light’s class just switched off - Isaac
