For some of the children in Reception this was their first experience of snow and for others the first experience they will remember. The whole class were very excited about going out to touch the snow and feeling it crunching under their boots. We didn't have long before it started to melt so we quickly put on our warm clothes and went to the snowiest corner of the field. Using magnifying glasses we looked closely at the ice crystals and snowflakes. The children enjoyed making snowballs and we even managed to make two very small snowmen. We left one snowman outside and brought the other inside. We estimated how long it would take for both the snowmen to melt.
