WWBBA: understanding evolution and inheritance

SC: understand how animals and plants can evolve over time because of evolution and natural selection.

Today we started to look at evolution. After playing the evolving bird game, we realised some animals DNA mutates changing certain characteristics of that animal. In our bird game, this became useful as it became easier to find food but also wiped some birds out. This is called natural selection.

We then played the evolution and natural selection game in pairs for a range of animals and plants. Some children even made some animals extinct!
