On Monday Year Five had a visit from the Environment Agency. Amanda spoke to the children about our waterways and the need to keep them clean. She also explained to the children the important role of the Environment Agency.
She brought in lots of information leaflets about the native species that inhabit our water systems and discussed with the children how some of these are now endangered. The children also got to look at specimens of white clawed cray fish and some otter droppings!
The children listened carefully and asked lots of sensible questions.
We then followed up the session in class. The children created posters encouraging people to look after our waterways and the animals that inhabit them.
